Serbia wishes Montenegro to join EU as soon as possible

BELGRADE - Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Serbia's Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, said in Podgorica Tuesday that as holder of the OSCE chairmanship, Serbia wishes Montenegro to become a member of the European Union as soon as possible.

"Our (OSCE) mission in Montenegro pointed to a great number of joint projects realized, and this is precisely the reason why the OSCE mission is there. I can say with great pleasure that we are offering our full support to Montenegro for the things they have done so far, and also for what is yet to be done," Dacic said after meeting with his Montenegrin counterpart Igor
Luksic and talks he held with OSCE representatives in Montenegro.

Serbia has made the Western Balkans its top priority in the year it holds the OSCE chairmanship.
"What it means is regional cooperation between countries, and I would therefore like to thank Montenegro for signing the
Declaration of the International Commission on Missing Persons," Dacic said during his first official visit to Podgorica in his capacity as OSCE chairman.

Montenegrin Foreign Minister Luksic said he was pleased about Serbia's chairing the OSCE.

Today we focused on topics concerning Serbia's OSCE chairmanship and Montenegro offers its full support for the Serbian chairmanship of the organization, Luksic said, expressing satisfaction about Podgorica's cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Montenegro.

He used the occasion of today's meeting to commend the recent resumption of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
