Pajtic, Kirby discuss situation in Vojvodina

NOVI SAD - Vojvodina Prime Minister Bojan Pajtic and US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby have discussed the current situation in Vojvodina and ways to improve the conditions for attracting investments.

Pajtic and Kirby met in Novi Sad late Wednesday to discuss the cooperation between the provincial and national administrations aimed at implementing plans that are vital to Vojvodina's economic development, the press office of the provincial government said in a statement.

The Vojvodina government is committed to preserving multi-ethnic harmony and, in this regard, it serves as an example in Europe as well as globally, Pajtic said.

Through a responsible policy, a commitment to reform processes and genuine efforts to resolve economic and social issues in collaboration with its national equivalent, the provincial government is acting in a manner that is true to the spirit of European democratic achievements, Pajtic said.

Over the past decade, the provincial administration has invested major efforts to create a favourable climate for attracting foreign investments and boost interest in investing, Pajtic noted.

As part of its strategic orientation, the province will continue incentive investments in agriculture, industry, information technology and other economic sectors, Pajtic said.

Ambassador Kirby commended the provincial government's investments in agricultural development, the measures undertaken in agriculture and water management, as well as the assistance it provides to senior citizen households, in particular in rural regions, the statement said.
