PM meets with representatives of Foreign Investors Council

BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic discussed on Monday with representatives of the Foreign Investors Council (FIC) ways to improve the business climate in Serbia, and engage major companies in the privatization program.

As the government's press office said in a release, the officials addressed the topics relating to possible improvements in Serbia's business climate, more efficient implementation of the existing legal arrangements, and involvement of major companies, FIC members, in the ongoing privatization process.

The talks also dealt with concrete problems facing foreign investors, primarily in the field of finance, agriculture and inspection oversight.

The officials underlined the need for coordinated efforts in resolving the problems, but also improving legal arrangements with a view to creating a better business climate in Serbia, through a new set of bills such as the bill on conversion, bill on foreign exchange operations, bill on inspection and others.

Both sides pointed to the need for changing the legislation in the field of tax administration so as to secure more efficient business operations of foreign investors.

Prime Minister Vucic and FCI representatives concluded that the meeting between representatives of the FCI and all relevant ministries should be held once a month to ensure that the agreements reached so far are successfully implemented, notes the release.
