Voltaj got 24 points, with the specialized jury and public vote weighing 50 percent each.

The final selection included 12 songs in a three-hour show closed by a recital of Ukrainian singer Ruslana, the winner of the 2004 Eurovision contest. She dedicated her last song to her country; the public met it with applause. 'We're fighting for light. Turn on the lights to show we're united for peace,' the artist said, prompting the audience to switch on the lights of their mobile phones.

Voltaj was the first to perform in the competition, followed by Baietii (The Boys) with 'Dragoste in lanturi' (Love in Chains), Tudor Turcu ? 'Save Us', Aurelian Temisan feat. Alexa ? 'Chica Latina', Rodica Aculova ? 'My Light', Blue Noise ? 'Love Won't Run Away', Ovidiu Anton ? 'Still Alive', Lara Lee ? 'Superman', Super Trooper ? 'Secret Place', Luminita Anghel ? 'A Million Stars', Cristina Vasiu ? 'Nowhere'; CEJ closed the competition with 'We Were in Love.'

The European contest will be held in Vienna on May 19, 21 (semifinals) and 23 (final), with Romania in the first semifinal against Greece, Macedonia, Estonia, the Netherlands, the Republic of Moldova, Finland, Belgium, Armenia, Serbia, Denmark, Belarus, Russia, Albania, Georgia and Hungary.AGERPRES
