Leading Turkish businessman Mustafa Koç suffers heart attack

Turkey's leading businessman Mustafa Koç suffered a heart attack on Jan. 21.

He was hospitalized to Istanbul's Beykoz State Hospital and his condition reported to be critical.

Koç was later transferred to the Vehbi Koç Foundation American Hospital (Amerikan Hastanesi), which he owns, by helicopter.

Meanwhile, Koç Holding said in a statement that Koç's treatment was ongoing.

The Beykoz State Hospital also announced that Koç suffered heart attack while exercising. First aid was provided by his bodyguard and exercise coach and he was later resuscitated at the hospital, it added.

Koç is the chairman of Koç Holding, which is Turkey's top industrial conglomerate.
