Petrol ranks 9th by total revenue in SE Europe

Ljubljana – Slovenian energy company Petrol ranked ninth by total revenue for 2020 in the SEE TOP 100 ranking of the largest companies in SE Europe, published by business news portal SeeNews. Romanian company Automobile Dacia, a unit of French Renault, was ranked first with EUR 3.8 billion in revenue.

Petrol ranked ninth with revenue of EUR 2.5 billion as the highest ranked Slovenian company, despite recording a drop after coming fourth in the 2019 rankings.

It was followed by Slovenia’s largest electricity supplier Gen-I in 12th place with EUR 2.1 billion, and by the state-owned power company HSE in 17th place with EUR 1.9 billion in revenue.

Pharma company Krka generated EUR 1.5 billion in revenues last year, ranking 24th, followed closely by Revoz, the car manufacturing company based in Novo Mesto, which generated EUR 1.4 billion.

The remaining Slovenian companies on the SEE TOP 100 list were retailer Mercator, pharmaceutical company Lek, home appliances maker Gorenje, CO2 emissions coupon trader Belektron, aluminium producer Impol and national telco Telekom Slovenije.

Although ranking first, Automobile Dacia, a sub-unit of French car manufacturer Renault, generated 26% less revenue than in 2019.

SeeNews noted that the Covid-19 pandemic had reduced the total revenues of the 100 largest companies in SE Europe by as much as 7% last year. It added that the pandemic had been the main factor in the drop in revenues and profits.
