At least 77 dead in Ukraine clashes

KIEV -- At least 77 people were killed in clashes between protesters and members of the security forces in Kiev, the Ukrainian Ministry of Health has said.

The ministry said in a statement that 577 people were injured, of whom 369 remained hospitalized.

Itar-Tass was told by the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs that 130 members of the security forces was shot and wounded in the last three days.

After fierce fighting, which has lasted for three days, the press service of the Ukrainian presidency said an agreement on resolving the crisis had been reached late on Thursday. This happened in negotiations between opposition leaders, and President Viktor Yanukovych, and with the mediation of three ministers from EU countries.

However, on Friday morning, EU ministers said the negotiations were continuing.
