Luhansk seeks recognition from Serbia

LUHANSK - The self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) called on Russia and 14 other countries, including Serbia, to recognize its independence.

LPR Supreme Council, municipal and regional congresses seek the recognition of LPR as a sovereign independent state, Russia's Itar-Tass reports.

The request was sent to Serbia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, and other countries.

A referendum on independence was staged in the Luhansk region on May 11, with a vast majority voting in favor of independence.
