Djuric condemns behaviour of interim institutions

BELGRADE - Director of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) Marko Djuric condemned the behaviour of Pristina interim self-government institutions which banned entry to the KiM territory for liaison officer Dejan Pavicevic on Wednesday.

According to a release issued by the Office for KiM, denial of access to the province territory for Pavicevic, who was sitting in the vehicle fitted with diplomatic licence plates at the time of the incident, constitutes a fierce violation of the agreement reached by Belgrade and Pristina with EU mediation.

A fact that gives ground to considerable concern is that such actions by the Pristina government which are contrary to the obligations taken on constitute an unambiguous aggravation for further normalisation of the Belgrade-Pristina relations.

Pavicevic was turned back at the Merdare administrative crossing on the excuse that he does not hold valid documents which is not justified because the papers the officer produced are 100% valid on grounds of the Agreement on liaison officers.

The government of the Republic of Serbia hopes for prompt resolution of the controversial situation and calls for full respect of obligations taken on by all relevant sides who participated in the talks that resulted in the Brussels agreements, the release states.
