German vice chancellor to visit Belgrade in November

BELGRADE - German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel, who is also minister of economy and energy, will pay a one-day visit to Belgrade in mid-November, the Danas daily reported on Friday.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic spoke to Gabriel during a working visit to Berlin in late August.

Gabriel is a high-ranking politician who has been the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany since 2009, and is Chancellor Angela Merkel's closest aide, the Belgrade daily said.

While in Serbia, Gabriel could also meet with Bojan Pajtic, prime minister of Serbia's northern province Vojvodina and Democratic Party leader, the daily said.
