Varoufakis regrets Paris Match photoshoot

Yanis Varoufakis did not hide his distaste of German FinMin Schaeuble’s statements that he is “naïve”, according to a Sunday interview on ‘Alpha’ TV station.

 

Mr. Varoufakis stated that Schaeuble did not keep his word on not publicizing all that they had talked about during their interpersonal talk after the last Eurogroup.

 

He stated, however, that during the past month, they have had two long conversations in a very good climate.

 

At the same time, the Greek FinMin denied that the German FinMin told him that Germany can aid Greece in exiting the Euro.

 

Mr. Varoufakis stated he is regretful of the Paris Match photoshoot: “I would like for that Photoshoot to never have happened… I regret it. I am not fond of the style of these photos”.

 

He added, however, that the text that went along with the photos was very good “portraying Greece positively in France”.

 

“We have not laid a finger on the pension funds”, he added, stating it was his idea to manage them.

 

“Our goal is to avoid new austere crisis measures on which our partners pressure us”, he clarified and reiterated the 1.5% primary surplus goal, adding that “we will obviously reach it”.

 

The FinMin mentioned that he has not been informed on any facts that the technical teams visits Athens found a “two billion euro hole”. He added “
