Udovicic: Albania and Slovenia accepted initiative

BELGRADE - There is great interest form the countries of the region to get involved in creating a Western Balkans youth union, Serbia Minister of Youth and Sport Vanja Udovicic said on Tuesday, adding that Albania and Slovenia had already accepted the initiative.

Serbia's Prime Minister presented the initiative in Berlin last year, Udovicic stated, adding that there was great interest, but that everything was still on the initiative level.

He discussed this with Republika Srpska's Minister of Family, Youth and Sport Jasmina Davidovic in Banja Luka on Monday.

The goal of the initiative is to improve links between young people in the region, promote tolerance and help young people from the region apply jointly for EU projects targeting youth, he told Radio and Television of Serbia.

"The goal is to provide young people with an opportunity to compete to become leaders in the Balkans and Europe and to be able to apply jointly and solve problems," Udovicic stated.
