Validity of status-neutral KS registration plates extended in Brussels dialogue

BRUSSELS - A deal preventing a scrapping of Serbian vehicle registration plates in Kosovo-Metohija and extending the validity of status-neutral KS plates for another five years has been agreed in the technical dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

Under the deal, status-related symbols on plates are to be covered with stickers when crossing the administrative line, and trial registration plates will not be required.

The head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija, Marko Djuric, said late Wednesday Belgrade's delegation was satisfied with the deal.

It will replace a 2011 agreement that was the toughest and the worst for Serbia, Djuric said in Brussels.

The regime involving Serbian plates will remain in place for 12 months.
