Soup kitchens in KiM get 12 tons of food

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA – Serbian government's Minister without Portfolio in charge of Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) Aleksandar Vulin visited a soup kitchen in Kosovska Mitrovica, northern KiM, to deliver a donation of 12 tons of frozen food on Thursday.

This donation is to be distributed to all meal centers in KiM, and it was provided by the South Banat administrative district with the help of Frikom Frozen Food Industry as part of an aid program launched by the Serbian government’s Office for KiM.

"Kosovo-Metohija will always be one of the priorities for the Government of the Republic of Serbia,” Vulin said, adding that the new donation is yet another proof that the government will be taking care of the people in the province.

He said that part of the aid package is intended for the soup kitchen in Kosovska Mitrovica, which provides some 80 meals a day to 37 most endangered families.

The ministar added the Serbian government will help to have prepared at least one free meal a day for children in kindergartens, primary schools and the local center for children with special needs.

Goran Rakic, Citizens’ Initiative Srpska candidate for mayor in the forthcoming elections in north Mitrovica, said that soup kitchen users in the city are given only one meal a day for now, adding that the local government will work together with the government to provide them with three quality meals every day.
