Chepurin: Serbs,Russians have always been on side of justice

BELGRADE - The Russian Embassy in Belgrade organised a reception late on Monday to mark May 9, the Victory Day, and on this occasion Russian Ambassador Alexander Chepurin stated that Serbs and Russians have always been on the side of justice and have demonstrated that victories are scored by those who are backed by the truth and not by those who have the money and power.

May 9 is our common holiday of victory over fascism, Chepurin said at the reception in the Russian Embassy and noted that Russians and Serbs have always been on the side of justice and fairness.

The reception was attended by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin, members of the Serbian government including Minister of Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic, Minister of Energy Aleksandar Antic, Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and Finance Minister Lazar Krstic, as well as members of the Russian Duma and the Serbian National Assembly.

We were told that holidays are being celebrated in Serbia and that nobody would come to the reception but we can see that 99 per cent of invites were accepted, Chepurin said.

In his speech, the Russian ambassador said that a tragedy of brotherly people of Ukraine is taking place right now.

After the Balkans and Yugoslavia, radical nationalists organised protests in Ukraine, Chepurin said and added that the protesters in Odessa are burning living civilians. He noted that 50 people have been killed in Odessa so far.
