Field hospital set up in Obrenovac

BELGRADE - A field hospital, which is part of the Military Medical Academy, started working in a schoolyard in Obrenovac on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defense has announced.

This temporary healthcare facility will provide treatments for the citizens living in the flood-affected areas and members of the Serbian Armed Forces and Interior Ministry repairing the damage.

Lieutenant Colonel Doctor Miroslav Brocic, commander at the field hospital, said that the hospital has around 30 doctors and medical staff.

According to Brocic, the hospital is equipped for simple surgeries, lab analyses, general, orthopedic, X-ray and other examinations.

More complex medical cases will be sent to proper hospitals.

Authorities are considering the possibility of putting up another field hospital of the same kind at some other location in Obrenovac.

The "Bora Markovic" barracks in Obrenovac are being prepared to receive a group of people who were forced to flee their homes due to the recent severe flooding.

Major Nikola Misajilovic, commander at the barracks, said that soldiers from several units of the Serbian Armed Forces are working hard to prepare the barracks, which have not been used for several years, for the displaced people.
