Sertic: Goal to increase export to all leading world markets

BELGRADE - Serbia's goal is to increase its capacities and encourage export growth for agricultural and food products both on the Russian and other markets worldwide, Serbian Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic stated on Monday.

During the 23rd World Food International Exhibition in Moscow, Sertic told Tanjug that it is up to the state to ensure export for its producers to all leading markets worldwide, which is particularly important at this point, with sanctions that are in force between Russia and the EU.

In case the sanctions remain in force for a while, preventing companies from the EU from selling their goods on the Russian market, a part of their products will be sold on other markets, while the rest will remain in the territory of the EU, Sertic explained and added that there is a danger that the price of products may be lower, which is why it is uncertain whether Serbian producers would be able to deliver goods to the EU on the previously arranged prices.

This is why other markets are important for Serbia as well, such as the Near East, Russia, Turkey and all the countries where Serbian companies exported their goods until now, as well as the markets which hold possibilities for export increase.

Speaking about the food fair in Moscow, Sertic said that the offer potentials and partners' requests proved high on the first day of the fair already and exceeded the capacities of Serbia's current output possibilities.

Serbia had never before been represented at a fair in such a positive way as it was in Moscow on Monday, Sertic said and added that the country's aim is to present in the best possible light the potentials and measures implemented in the process of support to the food industry.
