Hahn to visit Belgrade next week

BRUSSELS - European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn stated on Thursday that he will pay a visit to Serbia next week in order to gain an insight into Serbia's negotiations with the EU.

Hahn's visit to Serbia is scheduled for November 20, and previously he will visit Podgorica, Montenegro.

I thought that I should visit Serbia and Montenegro as soon as possible after assuming the new office, said Hahn, who served as the European commissioner for regional policy until November 1.

Serbia has already embarked on the accession talks, Hahn said, adding that he hopes that this process will end with the full-fledged membership.

I am coming to see how much progress has been made in the negotiations, what has been done and what still needs to be done, he told reporters.
