PM receives Belarusian trade minister

BELGRADE -- The Serbia-Belarus relations are good but can be improved, PM Aleksandar Vucic said as he met with Belarusian Trade Minister Valentin Chekanov on Wednesday.

The potential for economic cooperation is great, particularly in agriculture and mechanical industry, said Vucic, and expressed his gratitude to Belarus for remaining open to Serbian companies, primarily in the construction sector.

Chekanov is leading a delegation of the Belarus state and business officials, who are attending a meeting of the intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation.

At the meeting with Vucic, Chekanov presented concrete suggestions for cooperation in the production of buses, tractors and fire fighting vehicles, and setting up a distribution center for the metal industry.

The two officials agreed to start the realization of the proposed projects as soon as possible, the Serbian government's press office said.
