Photo exhibition on Roma life opens

BELGRADE - Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport opened in Belgrade on Wednesday a photo exhition entitled Our City Our Home.

The exhibition was opend on International Roma Day and shows the life of Roma people in Nis and Belgrade. Its authors are young Roma from the Gipsy Roma Urban Balkan Beats (GRUBB) Foundation.

Davenport wished the Roma a happy International Roma Day in their language and added that the Roma faced great challenges in education, healthcare and accommodation in Serbia and other countries.

The great achievements of the Roma in culture and music, which is what the exhibition portrays, indicates that they can make a contribution to society in other fields as well, he noted.

The exhibition was designed in coordination with photographers Dragan Kujundzic and Tarante Tarante, head of the GRUBB Foundation Dobrila Karaulic stated.

The exhibition's opening will be followed by a concert by the GRUBB band, whose music is a combination of the traditional Roma music and urban hip-hop.
