Motion to set up inquiry committee on Zoran Djindjic murder rejected

BELGRADE - The Serbian parliament on Thursday rejected putting on the agenda of its new session a Serbian Radical Party (SRS) motion to set up an inquiry committee on the assassination of former PM Zoran Djindjic and its political background.

Eighteen MPs voted in favour of including the motion in the agenda, 152 did not vote, while one voted against.

The motion was tabled on December 15, when SRS MP Nemanja Sarovic said the committee would neither deal with Djindjic's policy nor with his government, but with one matter only - the political background of his assassination.
