Rastovac Siamashvili: Serbia ready to oppose Pristina's UNESCO bid

PARIS - Serbia's Ambassador to UNESCO Tamara Rastovac Siamashvili said on Thursday the so-called Kosovo had no support for joining the organisation and that Pristina's membership application would be unsuccessful.

"Serbia is ready at all levels, including the highest level, to oppose that," Rastovac Siamashvili said after a meeting with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and Serbian FM Ivica Dacic in Paris.

She said Serbia maintained excellent cooperation with UNESCO and that Dacic's visit represented a continuity of high-level meetings.

She said Serbia's UNESCO Executive Board chairmanship amid complex geopolitical circumstances was a result of the country's good reputation.

"Serbia is a country of balance and a constructive partner, a country that can speak with everyone," Rastovac Siamashvili concluded.
