Dacic, Miscevic discuss Serbia's EU accession process

BELGRADE - Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic conferred on Friday with Serbia's chief negotiator in the EU accession talks Tanja Miscevic, Foreign Ministry stated in a release.

Miscevic briefed Dacic on the course of the negotiations, the completed screening processes, as well as activities of the negotiation team planned by year-end.

She also informed Dacic that she met with Director of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo-Metohija Marko Djuric to discuss Chapter 35 (relating to the process of normalization of the Belgrade-Pristina relations), and conferred on energy issues with Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic.

Serbia's chief EU negotiator noted that serious problems were also encountered in the sector of environmental protection, states the release.

Dacic agreed with the idea to compile monthly progress reports on Serbia's EU accession talks, which would be sent to all diplomatic and consular representative offices, adding that he will do everything in his power to facilitate this practice.

The two officials pointed to the issue of Serbia not having embassies in Lithuania and Liechtenstein, the countries set to take on the EU's rotating presidency in the next two years, and noted that this matter should be dealt with as soon as possible.
