Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Friday highlighted that Romania, as NATO member state, must have peaceful and good cooperation with all countries observing the international rules.

'I maintain that Romania is a NATO member state, that it has a strategic partnership not only with the USA — especially with Turkey and Poland in this eastern area of NATO — and that, also, Romania, as NATO member state, same as the USA and other countries, must have peaceful, collaboration relations with all countries observing the international rules,' Ponta said when exiting the Black Sea Summit, in reply to a question referring to the statement made by Defence Minister Mircea Dusa, during the official visit he paid to China, concerning the need to intensify the military cooperation with the Chinese side.

In context, Ponta brought to mind the visit he paid to Kiev on Thursday, together with the Republic of Moldova Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, where he talked about the collaboration between Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

'I went to talk about the collaboration between Romania, a country which is already a EU and NATO member state, the Republic of Moldova, the most important neighbour and partner of Romania, and Ukraine, a country that needs solidarity and support. This morning (...), at the invitation of the Assembly of European Regions, I conveyed Romania's Government and Romania's support position for everything that means regional development,' Victor Ponta said.
