FM welcomes postponement of visit

BELGRADE -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dačić has said ti was "good the visit of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama to Belgrade has been postponed."

According to Dačić, "tensions need to be calmed" after the Serbia-Albania football match incident last week.

"This situation needs to be overcome, and in order to do that, political will is required, and Serbia has it," he told reporters at the Palace of Serbia on Monday.

Dačić added that it should be determined "how and why" the incident occurred "and how a drone appeared" during the game, displaying the map of the so-called Greater Albania.

"Everything that happened during the game was not good, because it encourages tension and there is a negative development of relations and regional instability," said Dačić.

He stressed the need to develop regional cooperation and to talk openly about all the problems to overcome problematic situations.

Rama was supposed to visit Serbia on October 22 but the visit was postponed for November 10.
