Bulgaria opens offices in Belgrade

BELGRADE - Trade and Economic Office and Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria opened on Tuesday at a ceremony in Belgrade, in the presence of Bulgarian Ambassador to Serbia Angel Dimitrov, who said that even after 135 years of diplomatic relations the ties between the two countries continue to strengthen in all areas.

Economy and culture are the two pillars on which modern communication is built. Today we have brought them together under one roof in the heart of Belgrade, and I hope that this is a sign of successful work in the future, said Dimitrov.

Bulgarian Minister of Economy Bozidar Lukarski thanked Dimitrov for his assistance with the renovation of the premises, which will be the new home of the Bulgarian diplomatic mission.

The government of Bulgaria expects to strengthen its economic ties with Serbia. I hope that our trade relations, which have been given a new home, will continue to grow, Lukarski said.

Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister Rumyana Bachvarova said that she is particularly looking forward to the cultural cooperation, noting that Bulgaria and Serbia are close not only geographically, but also culturally.

The Balkan tradition of building bridges must be preserved not only through physical construction but also by building bridges that will connect our past and our future, Bachvarova said.

The opening ceremony was attended by Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic.

An exhibition marking the 135 years of Bulgarian-Serbian diplomatic relations was staged at Bulgaria's new diplomatic premises in Belgrade.
