Academy of Engineering Sciences of Serbia joins Euro CASE

BELGRADE - The Academy of Engineering Sciences of Serbia (AINS) has joined the European Council of Academies of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering (Euro CASE), AINS President Branko Kovacevic has told Tanjug.

"This is a great step forward for AINS and good news for engineering and the Serbian scientific community, as well as for Serbia itself, which has to recognise the key role science, engineering, technology industry and economy play in the transformation processes that lead to EU integration," he stressed.

The decision to accept AINS was made unanimously at the annual meeting of the Euro CASE Board held in Brussels this month.

This completes the procedure that took almost a year. Euro CASE President Reinhard Huttl notified high-ranking officials of the European Commission and European Parliament of the Board's decision at the opening of the annual meeting of the Euro CASE assembly.

Huttl underscored that AINS, as the 22nd member of Euro CASE and the only one outside of the EU, was welcome among Europe's engineering elite, Kovacevic stated.
