OSCE welcomes Minsk agreement

VIENNA -- OSCE Chair and Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic welcomed on Thursday the results of the meeting achieved in Minsk.

He gave his "full support to the package of measures for implementation of the agreement reached by the Trilateral Contact Group in September 2014," the OSCE said.

Dacic called on all sides to use the chance embodied in the package to end enmity and alleviate tensions, which will make it possible for the joint goal to be achieved, embodied in the restoration of peace in eastern Ukraine.

Tireless work by leaders of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine which resulted in the adoption of the package is another reminder as to what results can be achieved through joint efforts, Dacic said.

He called on all sides to ensure full implementation of the package with a view to de-escalating the conflicts and putting an end to civilian victims.

This will create the conditions necessary for solving the crisis by political means and achieving a sustainable and feasible solution on grounds of international law and OSCE obligations, Dacic said.

Dacic also expressed gratitude to the Trilateral Contact Group and Special OSCE Representative Ambassador Heidi Tagliavini.

OSCE is willing to do all it can within its mandate to provide assistance in the full implementation of agreed measures, Dacic said and expressed the expectation that the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine would continue playing a central role in these efforts.
