Drecun:Establishing community of Serb municipalities crucial

BELGRADE - The establishment of the community of Serb municipalities will be crucial in Tuesday's resumption of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue in Brussels, says the chairman of the Serbian parliamentary committee on Kosovo-Metohija Milovan Drecun.

Pristina keeps obstructing the most significant part of the Brussels Agreement - the establishment of the community of Serb municipalities - and that is why there has been no further progress in the process of normalising relations, Drecun told the RTS.

The community of Serb municipalities must be formed pursuant to what has been agreed in Brussels and its statute must be coordinated with Brussels and Pristina, he said.

The community of Serb municipalities will not be functional unless Pristina binds itself to respect the statute, Drecun said.

Pristina is also creating problems with regards to the agreement on telecommunications and energy, Drecun said, noting that discussions on property in Serbia's southern province and the position of the Serbian Orthodox Church are still ahead.

One of the crucial issues, and the biggest problem, is the return of expelled and displaced Kosovo-Metohija Serbs and other non-Albanians and shedding light on the fates of missing and killed persons, Drecun said.
