Vucic Insists Serbia is Good 'Friend' to Bosnia

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Friday said Serbia had never questioned Bosnia's territorial integrity or interfered with its internal affairs, and that would be the case in the future as well.

He was speaking after meeting the chairman of Bosnia's government, the Council of Ministers, Denis Zvizdic, on the second day of his two-day visit to Bosnia.

"We do not have to forget the past but concentrate on the future. Serbia is a true friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and there is no need for any one to make a bogeyman of Serbia because Serbia is a friendly country to BiH," Vucic told the joint press conference.

Bosnia PM Zvizdic said he had talked with Vucic about strengthening political, economic, infrastructural and social co-operation between the two countries.

Calling Serbia a "partner" of his government, he said: "We share the same space and intentions of EU membership, and while our historical, geographic and geostrategic space direct us towards each other.

"Together we can be a new market and create new jobs, which is the goal of all governments," Zvizdic added.

During the two-day visit, Vucic said they also talked about certain energy projects, which in Bosnian terms must now be discussed also at the level of the country's two entities.

He added that it was agreed that the next joint session of the governments of Bosnia and Serbia would take place by the end of this year, probably in late November.

He also reiterated that he hopes all three members of Bosnia's presidency would go to Belgrade by the end of the year.
