EU reacts to events in Banja Luka

They want an immediate explanation from the Serb Republic (RS) Interior Ministry concerning the ongoing arrests of different persons associated with the "Justice for David" movement, including Davor Dragicevic as well as opposition politicians.

"We are vigilant in the development of the situation in Banja Luka and we urge everyone to stay calm and refrain from violence," the EU Delegation and the Office of the EU Special Representative in BiH said in a joint statement.

As stated, "Ambassador Wigemark and the ambassadors of EU member states in BiH recently met with Davor Dragicevic and Muriz Memic, and on that occasion welcomed their efforts to seek justice for the deaths of their sons by peaceful means."

"It is astonishing that two fathers in the search for justice for their dead sons have managed to provoke more discontent due to the lack of the rule of law and impunity in BiH than any political party," the statement said, adding that today's developments "are sending a negative and alarming message about the state of the rule of law in BiH."
