Female entrepreneurs break down prejudice

BELGRADE - The meeting on cooperation between female entrepreneurs from central Serbia and Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) began in Belgrade on Friday with the aim to encourage business cooperation and break down prejudice, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic and Director of the Serbian government for KiM Marko Djuric said.

This is a positive and interesting conference that should help improve living conditions in the Balkans as the fundamental interests, Mihajlovic told reporters and underscored that Serbia should assist economic empowerment of women in Kosovo through female entrepreneurship.

The meeting entitled 'Possibilities and challenges in the realisation of economic cooperation between Serbian and Kosovo female entrepreneurs - Female entrepreneurs as leaders of changes' was organised by TransConflict and Democracy for Development in Metropol Palace Hotel with the support of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Great Britain.

Mihajlovic underscored that it is in everyone's interest for the living conditions to improve and female entrepreneurship constitutes an important resource which is not being appreciated adequately.

There is a number of unsolved strategic issues in the relations between Serbia and Kosovo and the pace of the search for a solution to these problems will sometimes be faster and sometimes it will be slower, Mihajlovic said at the opening of the conference and added that in the time to come, there are relations and possibilities that can be used to the benefit of every citizen, and they cover relations between people, particularly women's initiative and their economic empowerment and connections.
