Vucic to attend Berlin conference on Western Balkans

BERLIN - A conference focused on the Western Balkans will be held in Berlin on Thursday under German Chancellor Angela Merkel's patronage and it will include prime ministers, foreign ministers and ministers of economy from the region, with Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic among them.

Vucic will be in Germany from August 27 to 28, and he will meet with Germany's Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Gerd Mueller and World Bank officials on the first day of his visit.

On the second day, he will first meet Goldman Sachs officials, followed by meetings with President of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Council of Ministers Vjekoslav Bevanda, Austria's Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, and Montenegro's Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic.

The same day, after the conference on the Western Balkans is finished, he will attend a dinner with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other conference participants.

He will finish his visit with a meeting with Germany's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Sigmar Gabriel, the Serbian government office for media relations has stated.

The conference on the Western Balkans is organised at Merkel's initiative.

Reconciliation, resolution of any remaining conflicts and economic cooperation will be the main topics.

Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic and Minister of Finance Dusan Vujovic will accompany Vucic to Berlin.

"There will be talks about regional cooperation, economic relations and the region's development," the Serbian government has said.
