CNN refers to Ukraine's army as "pro-U.S. troops"

MOSCOW -- "Social media is abuzz," RT is reporting, after CNN labeled Ukrainian Army forces fighting in the country's southeast as "pro-U.S. troops."

The American network scrolled a headline during a report dedicated to talks between Barack Obama and Angela Merkel that read, "Obama considers arming pro-U.S. troops."

"CNN's blunder was immediately noticed by viewers - many of whom began sharing the screenshot on Twitter, calling it a 'Freudian slip' and commenting that 'the mask slips'," RT said in its report, and added:

"The definition of Kiev forces as 'pro-U.S. troops looks to be a perfect contrast to the term 'pro-Russian rebels'."

Kiev and the West have been accusing Russia of supplying arms and soldiers to the rebels in southeastern Ukraine. Russia denies this, pointing out that there was no proof for the accusations.

According to the UN data, some 5,300 people have died so far in the conflict that broke out in April of last year, when, the Russian network said, Kiev sent regular forces and volunteer battalions after rebels in Donbass "refused to recognize the country's new, coup-imposed authorities."
