NATO commander wants Russia "to stop fueling conflict"

NATO commander in Europe, U.S. General Philip Breedlove, "has expressed his concern over the renewed fighting in Ukraine," reported Tanjug.

A message posted on his Twitter account reads:

"Concerned by renewed fighting in Ukraine. Vital all sides pull back verifiably, Russia stops fuelling conflict."

The Ukrainian army previously announced that six of its members died and 12 were wounded during the past 24 hours, despite the ceasefire agreement.

On the other side, the Donetsk People's Republic authorities said on Tuesday that one member of the pro-Russian forces died and five were wounded when Donetsk came under mortar fire.

Russia has repeatedly denied the accusations that its military is taking part in the fighting in Ukraine on the side of pro-Russian forces.

After a meeting this week held in Berlin by foreign ministers of Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia, it was announced that more heavy weapons, including tanks, would be withdrawn from the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine.
