Steinmeier says Kosovo should meet its obligations

PRISTINA - Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier met with Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga in Pristina on Wednesday and stressed the importance of the implementation of the Brussels agreement, which is meant to bring the relations between Belgrade and Pristina back to normal.

It is important that Pristina meet its international obligation to create a special court for war crimes committed by the so called Kosovo Liberation Army, Steinmeier underscored.

Germany is watching closely the developmetns in the Western Balkans and the entire region's efforts to meet the criteria needed for EU integration, he pointed out.

Jahjaga emphasised the significance of Germany's support for democracy in Kosovo, especially the EU integration of Kosovo and the rest of the Western Balkans, according to a statement posted on the presidential website.

Kosovo's institutions are working to fulfil international obligations, establish the special court, bring economic recovery, strengthen the rule of law and prevent illegal migration, especially towards Germany, she noted.
