PM to attend inauguration in Zagreb

BELGRADE -- Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will attend the inauguration of Croatia's newly elected president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, the N1 broadcaster said.

The Belgrade-based outlet said it received confirmation for this from the government.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said earlier that he would not travel to Zagreb for the inauguration as it will coincide with the Serbian Statehood Day holiday. According to N1, he said that "some other date for the event in Zagreb would not be contentious."

Nikolic was quoted as saying: "I am showing neither strenght nor courage by not being in Zagreb on February 15. I would have no dilemma if it was (on February) 16 or 14 but February 15 is Serbian Statehood Day."

"I certainly could not go to Zagreb, but I would consider whether to go if it was on some other day," Nikolic said of the inauguration, adding that he wants to see good neighborly relations between Serbia and Croatia.
