Gojkovic visits Cyprus, Serbia backed on Kosovo, EU

NICOSIA - Cyprus will always maintain a principled position on Kosovo-Metohija and support Serbia, as well as continue to advocate Serbia's EU membership, Dimitris Syllouris, president of the Cypriot House of Representatives, said at a meeting with Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic Monday.

Gojkovic, who was on a first visit to the House by a Serbian parliament speaker since 2006, thanked the country for its consistent position and support for Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Gojkovic also thanked Cyprus for voting against Kosovo-Metohija's UNESCO membership bid, noting Serbia was committed to the dialogue with Pristina, but that Pristina, too, needed to implement agreed solutions, such as the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, the Serbian parliament said in a statement.
