Karpushin: Resolution 1244 does not allow formation of Kosovo army

BELGRADE - Alexander Karpushin, Russia's ambassador to Albania, told "Koha Ditore" that UN Resolution 1244 does not allow the formation of the Army of Kosovo.

Pristina media reported in late January that the new US administration believes that Kosovo should form an army. TV station Klan Kosova argues that the part of the document containing 56 pages referring to the American defense reform, Pentagon chief James Mattis wrote that Kosovo should form its own army and that he believes that Belgrade will recognize the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo, before entering the EU.

Russian ambassador said that allegations about the formation of Kosovo army are "unproductive".
